WAYNE Pumps Bio:
In 1928, Norbert G. Berghoff founded the Wayne Home Equipment Company located in Fort Wayne, the second largest city in Indiana. The Berghoff family was also known for owning and operating the famous Berghoff Brewery in Fort Wayne.
Since its origin, the WAYNE Home Equipment Company has manufactured household-related products ranging from refrigerators to push lawnmowers. Originally, Wayne was founded to manufacture oil burners for use in home furnaces. The oil burners were also used in water and space heaters, boilers, and industrial ovens. Wayne became quite successful in the oil burner business, but soon faced the fact that oil burners were seasonal in nature. Fall and winter months became the high production periods for oil burners, creating a need for a complementary product that would increase Wayne's business in the spring and summer months. Manufacturing water pumps quickly became the solution to the problem faced with the oil-burner off-season.
In the late '40s, WAYNE entered the water pump industry by acquiring Zepher Pump Company, which was located in Decatur, Illinois. Wayne moved the Zepher facility to Fort Wayne, with its oil burner division to reduce manufacturing and transportation costs.
In 1978, the Berghoff family made the decision to sell their home equipment company to the Scott Fetzer corporation. The Wayne Home Equipment Company remained in Fort Wayne, until August of 1991, when it moved to its current location in Harrison, Ohio.
After 60 years in the business, WAYNE has become a dominant player in the water pump industry. Key factors such as fast delivery, customer service, color-coded packaging, and superior pumps have maintained WAYNE's leading status in the water pumps.
WAYNE offers a full line of sump, utility, sewage, lawn, and pool pumps, accessories and service parts. The business team is customer focused and is continuously developing new and innovative products. Furthermore, WAYNE's color-coded packaging is designed to aid consumers in picking the right pump for their needs.
