Example Question

Where can I buy repair parts?

Answer
Please call our customer service department for assistance @ 1-800-237-0987

Example Question

What type of battery is used in the ESP15 standby system?

Answer
A deep-cycle marine battery (boat battery). Our 40amp battery can provide 3.3 hours of continuous run and our 75amp battery provides 6.25 hours of continuous run.

Example Question

Can I use an extension cord to connect my pump to an electrical outlet?

Answer
Connecting your pump to an electrical outlet using an extension cord is not recommended because there is an associated voltage drop. If you MUST use an extension cord, purchase a heavy-duty cord that is the largest gauge and shortest length possible.

Example Question

Can gas-powered pumps or the PC4 be used to pump gasoline?

Answer

No! These pumps are not designed to move petroleum based chemicals such as gasoline. Doing so can be hazardous to both the pump and yourself and will void the warranty.

Example Question

Do all Wayne well pumps require a jet assembly?

Answer
All CWS jet pumps require a jet assembly to complete the installation process. Choosing the proper assembly depends on the depth and diameter of your well. For further details, click here. The SWS and JSU series of well pumps do not require a jet assembly.

Example Question

Do I need a tank with my well pump?

Answer
While it is not a necessity of operation, it is highly recommended that you use a water tank in conjunction with your well pump. Not having a tank will cause your well pump to constantly be running, thus adding unnecessary wear and tear. A water tank allows you to store water and your well pump will generally run at well-spaced intervals (depending on your water usage). Visit our products page for more information.

Example Question

How do you wire a T51S10-4?

Answer
By following the instructions in the manual or hiring a qualified electrician. Deep well submersibles are not DIY projects.

Example Question

Can any of our pumps be used in a saltwater application?

Answer

We do not recommend that our pumps be used in a saltwater application.

Example Question

TP250 – Will chlorine water in a pool cover damage the pump?

Answer

Over time it will degrade the shaft seal and damage the pump.  This damage is not covered by warranty.  Rinse the pump in clean water afterward to minimize the damage.

Example Question

What is the difference between a sewage pump and a grinder pump?

Answer
A sewage pump passes wastewater with solids through the discharge line without cutting or grinding them. A grinder pump cuts the solids and then passes the resulting slurry through the discharge pipe. Grinder pumps are typically used in commercial applications, where local code mandates that one be used, or in high-head or long-distance applications.

Example Question

Do I need a check valve?

Answer
Yes, check valves are recommended to prevent liquid from flowing back into the basin from the piping.  This will decrease the amount of necessary cycles and increase the life of the pump.

Example Question

My pump starts and stops constantly. How can I make the pump run longer?

Answer

A pump short cycling is a function of the basin diameter and the "on/off" pumping range. Since the basin is in the ground, it is unlikely that it can be enlarged. If you have an automatic unit which has a self-contained float switch, the "on/off" pumping range cannot be adjusted. But with a nonautomatic unit controlled with a pump switch you can have flexibility in the pumping range adjustment. Shortcycling can decrease the service life of a switch assembly. If this occurs, an automatic unit can be converted to operate with an external pump switch, which will expand its pumping range and decrease the amount of short cycling. Installing a check valve in the discharge line will help decrease short cycling.

Example Question

My pump makes a loud noise every time it stops. What’s wrong?

Answer
The noise you hear is the check valve closing. When the flow reverses in the discharge pipe after the pump stops, this slamming effect (Water Hammer) occurs.

Example Question

My pump is humming but nothing is being pumped. What’s wrong?

Answer
One possibility is that the pump is air locked. If you have a check valve in the system make sure your 3/16" vent hole has been drilled in the pipe between the Pumps Discharge and the check valve and it is not clogged. If it has not been drilled, disconnect the pump from your power source and drill the hole. If the vent hole solution is not the problem, remove the pump from the pit after disconnecting the power and piping and make sure the impeller rotation is not being restricted.

Example Question

Where can I find my model and serial number?

Answer

If you call our support number, please have your model and serial number ready. The model number is located on the Wayne label on the pump. Typical model numbers have three letters followed by 2 to 3 numbers. The serial number is located on a small white tag on the top of the pump. It will be 4 digits long. For example, model SPF33, serial number 4003.

Example Question

Can flexible sump discharge hose be used rather than rigid pipe?

Answer

No. Once the water is removed from the basement, flexible hose can be used to carry it away from the house. Discharge hose can be used in temporary application such as draining a flooded basement.

Example Question

Can I reduce my sump discharge to 5/8" or 3/4" garden hose?

Answer
No. Choking down the discharge will put a strain on the motor, shortening the life of the pump.

Example Question

My jet well does not pull water. Why?

Answer
The pump must be primed prior to operation. The volute must be filled with water to create suction. A foot valve must also be used to maintain the prime.
